The attraction of Victoria Park since its launch nearly 10 years ago has been its highly affordable homes set in pleasant surroundings, accessibility to main highways and good retail resources nearby. Now, entering its third phase, the development has proved a huge success for residents who enjoy the country atmosphere of the Helderberg while having easy access to Cape Town and the Boland.

CapeDev Homes has been allocated 200 plots at this original Garden Cities’ initiative in Somerset West, where building will start soon on a selection of two, three and four bedroom houses.

CapeDev Homes which has a similar philosophy to Garden Cities in its provision of high quality homes at affordable prices, has designed a selection of homes that will suit those starting out with their own homes, to families in need of greater space. The houses will be on offer from R499 000 to R699 000.

Maurice Overmeyer and Leon Naude started the company 10 years ago with a modest 20-unit cluster housing project in Thornton, and since then it has never looked back.

Under the banner of Cape Development Homes it was soon to do further work in Pinelands, Claremont, Thornton, Stellenbosch, Strand and Somerset West – growing from R2 million projects, to current and future projects in excess of R50 million.

Although most of its business initially started through contracting work, this soon developed into joint ventures with other developers. However, much of the current and future projects are driven through its own development initiatives.

It has completed close to 500 housing units ranging in price of between R250 000 and R2 million per house.

One of the company’s proudest achievements was receiving the prestigious Best Building Company in the Western Cape for 2005 award from the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) in the category of houses priced from R250 000 to R500 000.

It has a dedicated design, engineering and marketing team, which assists in developments within the Boland and Cape Town areas.

CapeDev Homes has a loyal and committed team of staff, workers and contractors on its various contract sites. It’s ethos remains one of honesty, integrity and quality of work and wish to grow its business in tandem with those who share the same values.
