![]() Construction is near completion and only six of its 71 homes remain to be sold after six months of marketing, at Albury Place in Pinehurst, Garden Cities' popular suburb near Durbanville. John Matthews, CEO of the 92-year-old residential development company said Albury answered the market need for up-market, stylish homes from under R1 million in what remained tough financial times for householders. 'We started building and marketing at a time when the recession gloom was still biting hard but immediately the houses began to sell. Now with only a few left, we are preparing to start construction on further extensions.' Land is presently being subdivided and serviced to provide an additional 49 erven on which houses similar to those at Albury Place will be built to provide for a market of young people and older buyers looking for manageable homes. Albury and similar villages to follow, feature surrounding 2.1metre walls or palisade fencing topped by 500cm five-strand electric fencing. The villages are set in beautiful surroundings just off the picturesque, spectacularly landscaped Pinehurst Drive with its 1.5km rows of rose bushes, olive and cypress trees, agapanthus and lavender. The beautiful boulevard has fountains at each end and is marked by landscaped traffic circles along its course. Albury is on a viewsite overlooking the picturesque Simonsberg. The two bedroom, two bathroom houses still available at Albury, are priced around R860 000 and take their place among the more than 1 000 homes that have been built in this valuable sector of the Western Cape where, in over six years of its development, Pinehurst has proved an excellent investment. Each house at Albury has its own private garden and garaging, and among the interior features are kitchens fitted with under-counter ovens and cooking hobs and granite working surfaces. In preparation for the next phase of development, civil and electrical servicing is scheduled to commence in November this year at an estimated cost is R30m and R10m respectively. Garden Cities will also be extending Brackenfell Boulevard and New Langeberg Road up to their intersection, and completing the external road loop from Langeberg Road up to Okovango Road.
