The attraction of Victoria Park since its launch nearly 13 years ago has been its highly affordable homes set in pleasant surroundings, accessibility to main highways and good retail resources nearby. Now, entering its third and last phase, the development has proved a huge success for residents who enjoy both the country and coastal atmosphere of the Helderberg Basin, while having easy access to Cape Town and the Boland.
As part of this ongoing project, Garden Cities have again appointed CapeDev Homes as the Contractor and Agent for this last phase of the project. As part of an ongoing land-availability-agreement between CapeDev Homes and Garden Cities, the last 200 plots have been released for the sale and construction of a selection of two, three and four bedroom houses. CapeDev Homes, which has a very similar philosophy to that of Garden Cities in its provision of high quality homes at affordable prices, have produced a selection of house designs that will suit those starting out with their own homes, or those families in need of greater space. The houses will be on offer from R440 000 to R800 000.
Maurice Overmeyer and Leon Naude started the company 14 years ago with a modest 20-unit cluster housing project in Thornton, and since then they have never looked back.
Under the banner of Cape Development Homes it was soon to do further work in Pinelands, Claremont, Thornton, Stellenbosch, Strand and Somerset West – having started from modest R2 million projects 14 years ago, to current and future projects in excess of R100 million.
Although most of its business initially started through contracting work, this soon developed into joint ventures with other developers. However, much of the current and future projects are driven through its own development initiatives.
One of the company’s proudest achievements was receiving the prestigious Best Building Company in the Western Cape for 2005/2006 award from the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) in the category of houses priced from R250 000 to R500 000.
It has a dedicated design, engineering and marketing team, which assists in developments within the Boland and Cape Town areas.
